History of Blackjack

Card games date all the way back to 900, with it’s roots in China. The concept of playing a game using cards took many forms, with different styles and types of the games, slowly evolving. Blackjack in particular comes from France, where it was born from another Casino game dating as far back to the seventeen hundreds.

The name seems pretty straight forward, “twenty one” is the worth of the cards in any given hand, and the ultimate goal that you will require to win. However, the term “black jack” actually refers to the most ideal combination of cards. Which is the jack of spades, and the ace of spades, having you reach twenty one with a “black jack” hand.

This game has since grown greatly in popularity, both in and out of Casinos. Many strategies have also been developed to help players get the edge on the house they need to ensure a win. The most common of which is card counting, which helps the player determine, based on the cads already dealt, what card they are most likely to receive, and play accordingly to near twenty one without going bust. The object is always to beat the house, and get the payout.
